Our Approach

Our Story

They say every business has a story. My desire to help people recover blossomed out of some of the darkest days of my life. At the tender young age of 39 years old, I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. As a busy mother of a special needs teen, a working nurse, and loving wife, all i could think was there must be some mistake.... this kind of thing happens to other people, not me!

My battle with Cancer was to last 3 grueling years with my final surgery taking place in 2018. With the help and loving support of my horses and many wonderful people I am proudly finally cancer free!! Those dark days of fear and anxiety as well as the physical discomfort left me feeling grateful to be alive and planted the passion in my soul to give back some of the loving healing energy that was shared with me at one of the lowest times in my life.

Our Story

Our Vision

In the course of both my professional work as well as my personal struggles, I have had many opportunities to witness the healing power of horses.

In the immortal words of Arab poet and famous Bedouin horseman Al Mutanabbi:

"If you have seen nothing but the beauty of their markings and limbs, their TRUE beauty is hidden from you."

Hooties Horse Haven

My Philosophy here at the ranch is all about sharing the healing power of horses. Through my personal struggles with cancer as well as raising a special needs child, I have learned to depend on my horses and I love sharing the secret of horses with other families in need.

I knew early in life I wanted to be a healer. I wanted to help fix people, so i became a nurse. What I discovered is that not everyone can be fixed with traditional western medicine OR today technology. Healing some wounds requires us to connect from an emotional and spiritual point of view.

I have experienced more tragedy in my life than most people and getting through that has given me the gift of empathy for others.

I married my first true love very young and we had 2 handsome boys one of which was diagnosed with autism at age 3. We started my autistic son in equine therapy and I volunteered to help with the cost of therapy. That in itself helped me to be a better mother.

Marriage, having a family at a very young age, and dealing with a special needs child all took a toll on my marriage. I ended up losing my husband to suicide. Even with all my education as a nurse as well as my love for him as his wife, I couldn't save him. Again I turned to my horses for help. Years later I would end up fighting for my life after being diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and my horses again were there to save me. The horses kept me centered and focused on reaching new goals in my life after both personal tragedy and cancer.

During my battle with breast cancer I first met and became friends with Michael Gascon of Gascon Horsemanship Academy. He inspired me to push past my fears and work hard for any dream I want to achieve.  Michael's biggest gift to me is the idea that any dream really IS achievable! Oh AND hes an UNBELIEVABLE HORSE TRAINER as well!

Now its my turn to give this knowledge back to a community that needs it. As a nurse, I combine my medical knowledge with my passion for horses and my life experiences to help heal people. Come visit the Ranch and share the magic!
